actually, it does work RL, and still works today. it's called the black market mostly used for illegal items but works w/ legal tiems as well...lol

i'm not up to think about the moral issue or the voting issues right now but so i know, if this patch came to be and was on, what would it cost in bandwith to dialup users?

well about the nightmare's i can think of 2 games off hand that have them (though only 1 of the games is graphical) so i don't know if that would impede that or not considering goblins r nething but an origional monster <shrug> as far as dragons, is it just the artwork for wingless dragons Roja? (since we don't have flying or even sky yet.) i mean is it that u haven't come up w/ something u like, or that u'r stumped on origional designs? because that was 1 of the things i liked to draw (and wasn't completely horrible at...lol) when i was young. i'm curious because if i can b of help i could try. (not saying nething good would come of it, but if it's ideas, it might help there.)

thanx for the idea kat i know a bunch of ppl that would post the link on ch1 since it'll b information every begging newbie should know....lol seriously though, if a GC ranking the only gc i'll ever have is from monster drops and that will b short lived, spending it right away. as for market and wealth, i'll go completely black market. i guess unless i need something else in trade, u ppl can pay me in PoFs edit: in case my point wasn't gotten, this would change the way at least some ppl play because of it, ppl like me because they like thier privacy, or ppl wanting to b at the top of the list. i don't think it would give that much honest information at all because of this.

perhaps, although to be more historically accurate... hardened leather is used as armour (sometime with studs, or other stuff attached), while padding underneath harder armour (like plate, chain, splint, etc) would have been made from softer leather (the sort used as clothing, etc) well, if u really want to go w/ that much realism, since current leather armor isjust called leather, maybe we could assume it's soft leather arrmor. (would provide more protection than cloth - i know i miss my brown leather jacket, that protected me from everything.) If Roja's ever up to the task, maybe she could create a darker hard leather armor that has a few more protections, and maybe 0 heat/cold resistance? and maybe -1 accuracy since hard leather would b harder to move in? just a thought

i'll add my thanks too thanks to all the devs and mods, even if i don't always agree w/ everything proposed or propose things that isn't always agreed w/, this is still the best free MMORPG i've ever found. thank u for all u'r hard work and effort, keep up the good work.

the point made in the other thread is just price, formula, exp changes AREN'T going to accomplish anything. if any changes are made they will either b temporary. or will just cause problems probably discouraging new players from playing ultimately hurting the game more than the current state of the economy. the point: it's going to take alot more.

I'm adding a privacy feature to the Top list where a players name can be set to -private- without affecting ranking. well as long as privacy would work w/ it, then it wouldn't b that bad, otherwise i'd have started competing w/ savyl for the BOTTOM spot and never have any gc exept when i was just about to buy something. (not much different than it is now for me, but still...lol easier to keep my money in bars neway...lol

u shouldn't have bothered editing that post Savyl i didn't get a chance to read it. u can say whatever u wish to me i'm not that easily hurt. but maybe i have an idea so i'll just say that i do plenty of other things besides EL too (i have no choice or i couldn't survive) ELs what i do in the quiet time that i pry should b sleeping since w/ the stress my situation causes i'm kinda usually wired for sound. and no i won't move off of this property because right now i've got my living expences down to about $300US/ mo enabling me to save up to continue to work on and improve this property, so i will eventually attain my goals as far as this property is concerned. edit: btw this is the situation i mentioned in my earlier post that things wound up as at the end of my last relationship. (also the part of y i don't invite ppl over in same earlier post.)

Wont that just make you as bad as them?? that's y i said gearing up as far as my guild goes. we'll catch up, trust me. besides, that's part of it and part of the fun. u also forget that a few of the top 20 just might reside in the honorable side of this when/if it's all said and done. as far as the last part, that would depend on the "laws" the community decided, if they decided that u don't attack those harvesting then it wouldn't b as bad as them. it's what the community decides. well i guess i am....lol i've taken fruit from lots of different ppls trees when i lived in FL unless asked not to, but most were more than happy for me doing it so that it was less they had to pick off their yard later. besides i'll take anything off an abandoned property i wish that's perishable. because it's just that - abandoned, just like the places on EL. i've been on all kinds of times and i've never met any of those owners of those veggie patches or nething else to ask them. if they cared they'd at least post a sign if they weren't going to b there at least some of the time. edit: quotes

There's something I've always liked better about a few trees and a lot of grass, as opposed to the concrete jungle. With or without the gunshots. Only thing that kinda worries me is how the city seems to grow closer, every year... personally, i prefer it the other way around w/ LOTS of trees for obscurity, but that's the beauty of being in the country, u can have things just about any way that u like. as for the city encroaching, i don't have to worry about that where i am, the closest thing i have to it is an exurb of high class ppl around a lake about 4 miles away from me, that have come out to the country probably for about the same reasons that i have. so i don't see them helping the city encroach any. and the rest of the ppl w/in a half hr drive in any direction are mostly farmers of some sort (mostly cattle) and they dan't give up their land. the government will even help them, because in my area, is where most of this countrie's food (meat mostly) supply comes from. though in exchange for the funding they're bogged down w/ all kinds of restrictions. well, while i don't understand the COMPLETE relevance of this post other than marginally, i think i do understand where u'r comming from about u'r views of most ppl. that's partially of y i come here as well, to deal w/ ppl on my terms. offtopic: commenting on u'r religious part of the comment, that's precicely y i'm an athiest, because of all the hypocracy, i just can't believe something from ppl that say 1 thing then turn around and do the same damned things they're condemning. well that's my take on all this. take or leave any or all of it as u see fit. u could also take down the name and they can get their just deserts again, and again, and again, and again. etc. etc. etc. especially when it comes to guilds. i don't know how it is in most guilds but all enemy DBs are forefiet. i'm sure after 10x u'd get enough out of that person's (and the whole guild's if they're a guildleader acting that way) to make up for what was jumped. (and possibly ruined their guild in the process. having guildmates around their lvl do it, and laughing at him the whole time. --------- and these here are just my views. that's y i've been trying to get the community to come up w/ a consensus. if the entire community comes up w/ a set of "laws" then even if my guild didn't agree, being a guild that prides itself on being honorable, would adhere to what the community decided. that's exactly what i'm trying to do taking over this thread.

that's where u'r wrong. creating another dump for unused weapons isn't going to solve nething. u have to create USES for these items in their intended capacity. making dumps for them gets them out of game but defeats their purpose, they might as well b taken out of the game if that is the case. the economy is run by the players. players are the 1s that are the 1's that are supposed to buy these items for use. if no player is going to USE an item then it has no business being in the game at all. because it will only hinder the economy like the items not being used have been. in short, if there's no player demand for an item, i should not b made. <---PERIOD!!!

i guess i'll start out by saying that i play these games and socialize over other forms of the net for the quality of ppl. there are at least more online concentrated in places than 1 could ever find locally. hence the chances of finding ppl i like are greatly improved. i live out in the country. where there are fewer ppl, (INTENTIONALLY!!! i wasn't born here by any means,) because it's been where there are larger groups of ppl there are also larger groups of undesirable ppl. for some reason those types of ppl are drawn to me like a magnet, and w/ them comes trouble. i moved out here to stay out of trouble. right now, having bought and paid for my own property by the age of 27, it's not quite livable yet seeing as i did it the easily financially/ difficult livability way, and bought my 5 acres as raw land. so living in this situation currently, (bad choices and help from an ex put me directly on the property,) make it so i would rather not have company here of those few ppl i can find locally that i like. i'm not good at making friends, (at least not considering most ppl friends,) because i don't like the falseness ppl display. i won't be nice to people who don't deserve it for the sake of politeness. just like i expect that if some1 doesn't like me or the things i do or say, i expect them to tell me. i'd rather argue w/ somebody because: 1.) they may have a point i hadn't considered and/or i may learn something. 2.) at least then i know for sure they're being honest and i can respect that, instead of just nodding away what i say being polite and then showing later that they either misunderstood, or simply ignored it. i can't respect some1 who isn't up-front w/ me. also locally, if i don't like some1 i can tell them to shut up, that i don't care what they have to say, (for whatever reason i choose,) without it causing a problem. online, i can just put them on some sort of ignore and the problem is solved. i guess in short, i use the net to socialize w/ ppl on my terms, to help my fragile sanity, and to help keep me out of trouble. that being said: actually, in my own neandering experience, out of the SEVERAL relationships i've had 2 of the best 3 i've had, (meaning those that lasted more than 1 yr,) started on the net. the last of which lasted 5yrs, ended w/ me in this situation but that was because family got involved and other things, it just became a huge mess. (btw there's also a 4th going on now long distance that will become in person, it's just a matter of financing at this point. i believe this to b because online ppl feel secure behind these machines, and those that don't just consider the the net as some strange fantasy-land, (they do on IRC too,) are generally more open and honest, not really trying to impress ne1, but merely being themselves. it's been my experience that in the dating/relationship scene that ppl are too busy trying to impress the other person in the beginning to b honest in who they are. that bases any relationship started in falsehood and severely degrades any chance of lasting. plus, there are so many ppl out there just looking for the physical aspect only that it plants a seed of distrust in the 1's looking for the real thing. online, when it comes it's unexpected, and it usually comes when not looking. and is VERY real. as for 1 or both being married, or dishonesty, that happens even more in person. at least online 9/10 times it comes to nothing in the end, unlike in-person, where u've slept w/ this person, and things have went much faster. at least online for the most part u can get to know some1 better BEFORE taking any real risks. though, i do understand u'r distrust of it all, because there are many ppl online who consider the whole net as some sort of a fantasy land. these are the ppl who come online fully to b some1 they're not, (and fail because 1's personality always bleeds through eventually,) and/or are married thinking they can have their spouse, and some online fling to compensate for what they're not getting in their marriage, and think it's not cheating, instead of figuring out their marriage and either fixing the problem, or disolving the marriage. though, it's been my experience, that even those flings do serve a purpose though, because getting to know another person online in that way they sometimes realize that they've developed feelings for the other person and are forced to re-evaluate their marriage, and either choose to fix their marriage, or go w/ the new interest, disolving the marriage. 1 of the 2 longest of mine that started online was w/ a married woman and it worked out this way. it only ended because the child of mine she was carrying miscarried, and neither of us handled it very well. well these are my experiences on the love part of u'r post Savyl, i won't say that they're right, but i will stand by them untill i have other experiences that make me question them. take them or leave them as u will. the country's nice ain't it? much prefer the sounds to animals at night, compared to sirens, gunshots, and the like...lol well i think i've seen a study 1ce that showed that usually the more intellectual types were the types that played RPGs, and half of the time, at least partially, for that very reason. maybe we should do what alot of other online communities have done, and start trying to host meets for those we get along best w/. after my property's made livable and presentable i plan to host a couple. maybe if ppl like the idea i might here as well. well, while i don't understand the COMPLETE relevance of this post other than marginally, i think i do understand where u'r comming from about u'r views of most ppl. that's partially of y i come here as well, to deal w/ ppl on my terms. offtopic: commenting on u'r religious part of the comment, that's precicely y i'm an athiest, because of all the hypocracy, i just can't believe something from ppl that say 1 thing then turn around and do the same damned things they're condemning. well that's my take on all this. take or leave any or all of it as u see fit.

Well I do wish the pk maps were more 'populated' with the people I consider my enemies..Pity most of these are just loudmouths who would run like rabbit if they saw me in a pk map. well if ppl at least think they have a chance to stay alive more than about 5 seconds w/o some1 w/ 3x their health will come and dispatch them they will enter more often. any1 who can't take some1 about thier own health, (even the rules in my guild allow a difference of 1/4 health,) seriously needs to think about the makeup of their character and what is wrong w/ it. I dont understand this statement..It does not answer the question. Who cares about same health or whatever.I was brought up to believe that you never send another to solve your problems. If the problem is beyond you..then yes, seek assistance. Otherwise deal with it yourself. my point is is that u don't pick on those weaker than u, even if they did piss u off, especially in a way that u cant pull ur punches so to speak. or r u the type to hit females and small kids IRL too? since u can't just spank the weak 1s (kids) and send them on their way w/ just a scare and bruised feelings. it's best to let some1 else handle that which isn't worth u'r time or effort neway (and go after the ppl that ull at least get some decent exp off of as well) Problem is you want to populate the PK maps but then whinge and moan when people get pked... Not everyone who pk's another is an outlaw... And if you read the outlaw posts..The community at large does not consider PKing in a pk map as outlaw activity. If you want to continue your crusade for a set of ethics rules in PK..then good luck to you...You are doomed to failure...Things will not change..And issues will be dealt with on a case by case basis here in outlaws as they have for ages (well at least the year I have been on...and probably since game began). That is the purpose of the outlaws forum...If somebody feels wronged..they say so..and then the person they complain about has the right of reply.. (which can often show the original complainant up to be the true outlaw..) **Edit.. Erm i just realised you did not start this ethics thread... but you do seem to have a strong opinion in its favour..so my comment on crusade for ethics in pk seems justified. i'm not whining in the slightest, my whole reason for my strong opinion is that my guild is gearing up to police these maps and even up the odds for those picking on the weak to bring honor to those maps. i've recently discovered in a failed alliance negotiation that everybody has different ideas of what honorable and dishonorable is. so when this was proposed i jumped on it to try to gain some concensus. alot of guilds think they can have total peace, that's not going to happen on PK maps. my guild will not ally w/ those honorless enough to be confirmed outlaw guilds or those that pick on the weak as things stand now. as things stand now w/o concensus my guild will wind up pissing off honorable guilds as well because of enemy things. that's y i'm trying to get a concensus only. i merely suggest that the community comes up with something in writing on what is honorable and dishonorable. if it's not exact w/ me and my guild's beliefs that's fine, as long as it's decided by the entire community, if the community as a whole decides what is honorable and what isn't then my guild will fall in line w/ that. it eliminates alot of the case by case stuff because there will b set precident. i'm not saying my way alone is the right way. i want it to get discussed and formed by the community. that way, there is a precident every1 can follow. this will lead to fewer misunderstandings between honorable guilds, and that is my entire reason. thank you for the update on whats actually happening, wish we could be told a tiny bit more but that could hurt the suprise. but ty, players like me do try to keep up w/ this stuff i've actually been thinking about looking more into this. (yes, i know it'd need perfect typing for such - it's possible u could actually see it out of me afterall...lol) exept that lately i've had more RL stuff to deal w/ currently, i haven't even been able to do such for my guild. maybe when things slow down for me some, i'll propose some ideas to vanyel. though i would like a complete list of what could/could not b done w/ mods help, so that i can propose appropriate ideas. even if u don't learn them, u deserve a break. whatever u do, don't forget to enjoy u'rself and relax, u earned it. i agree, all of u devs have done a very good job, creating a beautiful and entertaing game, it's still has it's things that need to b worked out, but i'm confident they will be in due course, but not if the devs stay stressed out and overwhelmed. i suggest u devs all work out a system, that after each update 1-2 devs get to take a month off. we players can survive and will post in the forums so u can see what's went on w/ the update while u were gone. plus it would leave other devs here to help handle things. if they can't they can still wait. u ppl deserve breaks, and we can survive w/o u, might b hard but we'll deal w/ it well that's my thoughts, take them or leave them as u see fit.

if they're not, have at it. i didn't say nething about not attacking trainers or the like because it's not my place alone to develop a full PK ethics list. i do have my own opinions on it though. and most of my ideas in the whole thing would b based around those picking on the substancially weaker. even the code of honor in my guild reflects this. Erm its not picking on somebody.... I dont think you understand what it means to be added to somebodies pk list... If they are weak that is their problem.. they should show more respect... I know that If i was told by somebody much stronger than me that i was on their pk list... i would expect to be attacked every time that person saw me..and thus I would take care not to get caught..and if i did and i got killed then that would be my tough luck...I would take it like a man..(and not go sniffling off moaning about it). **Edit... And if somebody weaker than me told me i was on their pk list.. i would say .."ok..I will be in arena in 5 mins..see you there.." (But I dont think that happens very often..) and this mentality is y ppl are complaining about the lack of population on PK maps. any1 who can't take some1 about thier own health, (even the rules in my guild allow a difference of 1/4 health,) seriously needs to think about the makeup of their character and what is wrong w/ it. since a reset my char currently has a health of 40 but i couuld pry take down most ppl w/ 60 (maybe higher) because i've figured out a few things about the combat system. btw that's no weaps, no armor, no magic, no pots(on both sides - equipped, i'd b even more dangerous) actually, for economic reasons, some of the ideas i've proposed/support to help the economy will probably abolish PvP training. especially ,since im of the side that changing the combat exp should be exp/kill and not the propose exp/dammage - to fix the current exp/hit so that weapons become more viable in the game. but since some of the new harvestables are ONLY going to b on PK maps. this would help protect non-combatants (socially, this wouldn't include outlaw doings this would help encourage the non-combatant types to go there for slightly less risk, giving the outlaws more to do. and subsequently ppl like me more to do that would be out to police these areas more to do. ) my purpose to this is to help populate the PK maps more. i'm not trying to take anything away from anybody but add to the entire PvP experience for everybody.

but picking on some1 that much weaker just makes u seem pathetic though. let a friend take care of u'r lightwork. especially if u have multiple ppl doing it they'll get the message even faster as well.

if they're that much weaker than u, yeah. but u could get a friend or guildmate around the same material points as them (only reliable measure considering the privacy feature) to take them out and keep doing it. i do - i simply think that a code of ethics should b hammered out by the players so that ppl that want to can have a reason that everybody can accept to kill some1 picking on a lower lvl player or whatnot. because there is no honor in an easy fight. besides i've suggested in a thread to improve the economy to change the way a/d exp is gotten from exp/hit to exp/kill for economic reasons, but it would also take care of the easy lvling like that anyway. ok so every1 becomes on the same page as me on this, (whether they agree w/ my thoughts on this issue (not definition) is something entirely different), i'm taking the definitions from another game i have played and they are as such: PvP = Player versus Player: Combat with another player for honorable rewarding combat. this can be to the death or not, can be for items or whatever. includes: duels, training, wars, and most other combat situations. PK = Player Killing: this, even on that game they named it wrong, because it was used to define ppl that picked on newbs and any1 weaker than them for cheap thrills, easy items, or simply because their character was so screwed up to b able to handle fighting ppl close to themselves. completely honorless combat, kinda like higher lvl players putting bags out and enticing newbs to come into the maps just to take them out. it's not worth doing exp wise or nething else. that's what i'm talking about. i think we as a community establish what should b considered honorable and dishonorable, lawful and lawless, so that people that want to be lawful and maybe even punish the lawless can. this being done will also help bring even more ppl to these maps for the following reasons: 1.) people will feel more secure (though in reality they won't really be because an "outlaw" could still come at any time and dispatch them.) bringing more ppl to the maps. outlaws and lawful alike. 2.) people playing honorable lawful characters can police these maps for outlaws, still bringing even more use to the maps. 3.) w/ a set of "laws" that the majority of the community can agree too, there will be less confusion about what is and is not honorable between players and guilds. causing fewer disputes that don't need to happen if neither party wants. so ppl won't have to fear going on these maps because they made enemies that they didn't want that would cause them trouble. i personally don't mind losing my stuff when i die to some1. it's part of the game. i do think it's pretty pathetic though that some1 w/ 120health will take out some1 w/ 25health and treat it like it's honorable when it's not. i can understand taking out some1 w/ 80health though because that person w/ 80health just might suprise the 1 w/ 120 and beat them, or maybe just get lucky. some1 w/ 25 hasn't got a snowballs chance in hell. where's the honor in that?
